Solix BioSystems Introduces for Sale the LumianTM AGS260, a 260 liter
Algae Cultivation System for Species Selection and Optimization

October 25, 2011 Ft Collins, CO. Solix BioSystemstoday announced the availability for sale of the Lumian AGS260, a 260 liter cultivation system designed to enable screening of up to four algae strains at the same time or for varying the growth parameters of a single strain in parallel. The Lumian AGS260 utilizes Solix's Lumian panels, its proprietary water-supported photobioreactors, to provide a highly productive and reliable growth environment for strain evaluation. It can be used for outdoor growth or indoors with an overhead lighting option.

"The Lumian AGS260 is ideally suited for exploring the growth parameters of algae species beyond the flask. Solix's Lumian panels provide a reliable and high productivity solution capable of growing algae to high densities," said Joel Butler, Solix's Chief Executive Officer. "This R&D tool fills an un-met need in the algae industry: the ability to screen strains in an outdoor environment and develop initial operating parameters needed for scale up." The Lumian AGS260 is the second commercial system that Solix has launched for sale this year. It follows the commercial launch of the Lumian AGS4000, a 4000 liter system designed for outdoor optimization of a single strain or as a source of clean inoculum for larger cultivation systems, including open ponds.

The Lumian AGS260 includes:
• A thermal basin with twenty 13 liter Lumian panels - total capacity 260 liters
• Lumian panels arranged in 4 independent sets for complete segregation of up to 4 strains
• Automated metering of CO2 to each set to meet pH set points with adjustable blend range and alarm notifications
• Basin filtration systems to maintain clarity for optimum light penetration
• 120/208-230V, 60Hz power for easy hook up
• Filtered blower system to control airborne contaminants.

Customers can elect options that include heating and cooling, indoor lighting and a centrifuge for dewatering.
